Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's murder was in the Rue Morgue on probably the first detective story ever written. C. Auguste Dupin to help solve the grisly murders protagonists in the Rue Morgue in this adventure / hidden object hybrid.
With possibly the longest game title ever, in the Rue Morgue Murders Holmes Allan Poe short story based on the Edgar, that in 1841 launched the Sherlock detective novel as a genre, which led to the famous detectives such asand Hercule Poirot. The story of the hero Auguste Dupin C. is a wealthy Parisian, that an innocent person was for the murders in the Rue Morgue believes arrested. He then places independently investigate the incident.
In this game you play the role of assistant Dupin, helps him search for clues and solving puzzles. Explore the two streets of Paris and interview several "persons of interest" to discover in your quest for the truth behind the gruesome murders. One thing to noteis that the history of the game does not exactly follow the original short story by Edgar Allan Poe. A fair number of details were changed, presumably to the story less complicated and better suited for a game.
The gameplay in Murders in the Rue Morgue consists mainly of an adventure-style scenes with hidden objects, jigsaw puzzles and mini-games appear in different parts of the property. This interface shows you the scene you are currently being examined and gives youAccess to your journal (includes history notes and points) and the important elements you along the way, are used to solve future problems already picked up.
The adventure-interface is where you solve puzzles, play the major plot can move on to the objects in. These scenes may also need to be combined or manipulated to create a desired effect. For example, you may find a loose cobble that an important clue is hidden, or you could use a cigarette lighter from theYour invetory to light a lantern and access to dark areas.
closer inspection of certain objects might solve the case you get a traditional hidden object scene or a puzzle or mini-game to the needs. The Hidden Object scenes are standard fare, and sometimes contain traces of the plot, and items you can store in your inventory will be used at a later date. The puzzles are not difficult, and seem to be a break from hidden objects to find, instead of being a difficultObstacle.
The art in the game is pretty well done, usually in a watercolor style that fits perfectly the 19th Paris Century. The artwork also calls for a gritty, urban feel that works very well with a mystery story, where murder is involved. The background music is captivating and suits the game quite well too.
There are a few disadvantages, which appear in the game, however. One thing was for me was the lack of voice acting. HearingCharacters speaking become more frequent at games in this genre lately. Sound of fear Parisians feeling jittery about the murders would be more gratifying still have made the game. Other than that the game is a pretty complete entertainment package.
To take a journey through the mind of Edgar Allan Poe, 19 Century pioneer detective story. View the Rue Morgue murders in a new light and play a role in solving the puzzle!
